Chapter 70
Dylan glanced at Jake and pointed at his laptop.
“You’ve already erased the footage?”
“Yes.”
“That’s good.”
Dylan tilted his head. Truthfully, none of the footage managed to capture the image of the little cat at all. There were only these insects corpses dying one by one as if they suddenly lost their vitality.
But of course, Dylan had no intention of explaining it.
...
Lotus was looking at Petra’s men who was inspecting the few insects’ corpses that had never awakened at all after the mutation. Even though they were also currently running away from City A because of the massive increase of giant mutated animals, they still took some of these corpses.
.....
Why?
Because it was interesting.
“How long are you going to stare at those corpses?” Lotus asked. She was clearly not interested in these corpses at all. In her opinion, they should just be burned to death and then everything was over.
Petra shook his head. “It’s weird that these mutated animals died instantly without being able to wake up. Look, there are even some parts that are already rotting as if they had died many days ago.”
“Huh?”
Lotus bent down and looked at the few parts that looked like it was blackened. At this moment, Lotus seemed to recall something from her previous life and her expression changed a bit.
‘No way.’
“Do you know something about it?”
“Perhaps...” Lotus was not exactly sure but when she saw these marks, she seemed to remember the fear from her previous life.
Petra glanced at Lotus. “So? A mistake in the mysterious red rain or something else?”
“It should be another awakened or perhaps a strange awakening ability.” Lotus refused to divulge anything.
Even though she felt apprehensive, she also knew that this information couldn’t be told to anyone in the slightest bit. Those who knew about this matter shouldn’t have existed in this timeline at all.
‘Mutated Healing Ability.’
It was what the researchers called these strange people who awakened healing ability but could do the reverse of healing. Their healing was a bit strange even from the first stage and when they reached rank 4, they were capable of doing reverse healing.
These people were extremely scary.
And Lotus remembered that there was indeed one girl who came from City A. A person who should have been in the same academy as her.
‘But she should have left City A from a long time ago with her friend... how come she’s still in City A?’
Lotus tried hard to remember the day when she woke up again and could only remember that she seemed to attract attention and screamed on the spot. After that... she definitely couldn’t remember about the other people around her.
There were several people from her faculty who would end up being scary people inside that supposed future she had seen.
But they were all were people whom she didn’t have good relationship with.
She didn’t remember them that well.
She just knew how they will end up in the future because of their big influence and their names that had resounded far.
Not in a good way.
And this reverse healing ability was something that was completely feared. It was because everyone who had this ability was basically invincible and couldn’t be harmed at all. No one even dared to get close or they will die.
The only way to defeat them was if they could make machine that could fight better than those high ranked awakened people.
...
After a good night rest, they woke up early in the morning and busy cooking for their meal. And looked at the way they were cooking without electricity, Jake sighed deeply.
“We’ll return to primitive era if this continues.”
“When we reach City B, it’ll be better.”
Jake nodded.
City B was a military city and had much better military compared to City A. At the very least, that city should be somewhat saver and in better order as compared to City A and the wilderness out here.
There was also a military base there.
Kate woke up and drank the milk from the milk bottle, looking all cute and adorable. It was really hard to imagine that this cute little creature was the same one as the one who killed countless mutated giant insects who swarmed last night.
And her ability seemed to be improving so fast.
After all, Kate knew that she would probably only need another day before her healing ability reaching rank 3.
This speed was like riding on a rocket.
The other people who awakened an ability was still trying to grasp their ability and fumbled around in the first rank but she was already far ahead of them.
